Above the work. Ceiling diffusion media earns its price in finish quality. Under-spec media or a tired set lets fine dust through and, just as damaging, breaks up the laminar descent of the air curtain so contaminants recirculate instead of leaving. Buy ceiling media by grade, not just by size, and replace the set as a unit. Below the grate. Exhaust arrestor media in the floor is where the money math is simplest: it protects a fan and duct system whose cleaning bill dwarfs years of media spend. Fiberglass pad is the volume choice, polyester the upgrade where waterborne overspray or grate-mounted rigidity argues for it. Change on the manometer, not on memory.

Interval economics. A Prestige running steady collision volume settles into a predictable rhythm: several exhaust changes per ceiling set. The failure pattern worth designing against is the stretched interval at month's end, when the booth is busiest and the media is at its worst; a standing kit delivery keyed to your actual cycle removes that decision.

The regulatory frame on a Prestige is the same as any liquid spray booth in the US. EPA 6H (NESHAP Subpart HHHHHH) applies when target-HAP coatings go on motor vehicles or mobile equipment: exhaust filtration, manufacturer-consistent operation, documented maintenance. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.94(c) requires the ventilation system to keep working as designed, which it only does with open media in both planes.
