Fresh media restores capture; dust nibs typically stop appearing on the next jobs sprayed. If dust nibs continue appearing on fresh intake-ceiling media, move to step 2.

Step 2: Replace the AMU pre-filter. The AMU pre-filter is upstream of the intake-ceiling. If it's loaded past cycle, contamination is bypassing the AMU and reaching the intake-ceiling at the new media's intake side, accelerating the new media's loading and re-introducing dust. Fresh AMU pre-filter typically resolves the case; if dust nibs continue, move to step 3.

Step 3: Check door seals. Worn or damaged door seals let shop air enter the booth through the seal gap. Shop air carries dust from prep, sanding, and ambient sources. Visible test: hold a tissue at the door seal during operation, if it pulls inward, air is leaking in. Professional service replaces worn door seals.

Step 4: Painter contamination practices. Painters wearing freshly-laundered clothes that shed lint, painters using compressed air to blow off panels (which stirs settled dust), painters not following proper booth-entry hygiene (clean shoes, lint-free clothes). Procedural fixes; not filter-side but worth ruling out.

Step 5: Booth interior cleanliness. Dust accumulates in booth interior corners and crevices over time. If the booth hasn't been deep-cleaned in months and the filter-side has been ruled out, accumulated interior dust may be the source. Professional service handles deep-cleaning.
