Side-downdraft is the layout shops choose when they want downdraft-style capture without excavating a pit. On the SDD, air still washes down over the vehicle from the ceiling, but instead of disappearing through the floor it turns at ground level and exits through arrestor grids running along both lower side walls. That turn zone, low on the vehicle sides and rockers, is where capture is most sensitive to filter condition and where loaded exhaust pads show up first as overspray drift on lower panels. Keep the side grids fresh and an SDD sprays remarkably clean for a booth that sits on a flat slab.

Change the full pad set on both walls and the pattern usually snaps back; if it does not, the booth needs a mechanical airflow check.
Can I use downdraft (DSD) filter sizes on my SDD?
The documented ceiling sizes match across the two Eagle models, but the exhaust arrangements differ and the AMU prefilter sizes documented for each are not identical. Order against the SDD record, and if you run both booths, keep the two change logs separate so counts do not drift.
